Scanning examinations for diagnosing prostate cancer – St. Teresa’s Hospital Scanning Department

Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers in men in Hong Kong. MRI and PET/CT scans are the key imaging examinations for diagnosing prostate cancer. MRI scan demonstrates the structure of prostate gland, while PSMA PET/CT shows the extent of local and metastasis status of prostate cancer.

Below image shows the same patient undergoing FDG and PSMA PET/CT scans respectively. The result shows PSMA PET scan can reveal more precise information of the status of prostate cancer than FDG PET scan.
